Wallpaper - Angling Baits for Fresh Water Fishes

Our Angling Baits for Fresh Water Fishes wallpaper brings together detailed vintage illustrations of traditional fishing lures, minnows, and flies neatly arranged across a soft cream background. Reminiscent of a classic nineteenth-century natural history plate, the composition pairs fine illustrative line work with earthy tones and subtle blue and yellow details. The orderly, grid-like rhythm gives the print a structured feel while maintaining the warmth of heritage book illustrations. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical paper structure, our wallpaper is designed to be straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of its illustrated character and repeating grid arrangement, we like this design in spaces where people pause and take in finer details. It works naturally in a study, home office, or library where the artwork adds character without dominating the room. In a hallway, entryway, or along a staircase, the structured spacing helps anchor the wall. For a lake house, cabin, or hobby room, the motif offers a thoughtful nod to traditional outdoor pastimes. The cream backdrop keeps the overall contrast moderate, meaning the pattern can sit comfortably across an entire room or serve as an accent behind a desk or reading chair.

Styling it

We would pair this wallpaper with traditional interior elements that complement its heritage feel, such as classic English country or vintage Americana styling.

• Warm wood furniture in antique pine, aged oak, or mid-toned timber balances the earthy tones of the illustrations.
• Brushed brass or muted bronze hardware brings out the warmth in the cream background without creating harsh reflections.
• Simple, textured upholstery in muted green, rust, or plain neutral linen keeps the focus on the illustrated wall while grounding the seating area.

Colour combinations

The design is built on a soft cream background, layered with earthy brown, tan, and charcoal illustrations alongside gentle touches of blue and warm yellow. To complement the print, we suggest pulling in surrounding painted surfaces in warm off-white or soft stone to create a seamless transition. For trim, cabinetry, or woodwork, deeper shades of olive green, muted slate, or rich ochre work particularly well by picking up the tones found in the individual baits and flies.
