1920s Wallpapers & Wall Murals

The 1920s had a visual confidence that still feels sharp today. Rooted in the Art Deco movement, the design language of that era is built around symmetrical geometry, strong lines, and a structured elegance that carries real presence in a room. Wallpapers inspired by the 1920s bring that same quality into contemporary interiors, with rich colour palettes, graphic pattern work, and the kind of detail that rewards a second look.

A natural fit for living rooms and formal dining areas

In a living room or formal dining area, 1920s-inspired wallpapers can anchor a space with a clear sense of character. The geometric patterns and bold compositions work well as a feature wall, drawing the eye without needing much else to compete with them. Deep jewel tones, soft creams, and classic black-and-gold combinations all suit these spaces well, particularly in rooms that lean towards a curated, considered aesthetic. A single statement wall in a dining room can give the whole space a more dressed feel, especially when the rest of the room is kept relatively quiet in terms of colour and pattern.

Pairing 1920s wallpaper with furniture and materials

Art Deco-inspired designs tend to sit well alongside velvet upholstery, brass or gold metallic accents, and mid-century modern furniture. The geometry in the pattern holds up against darker materials like lacquered surfaces or rich wood tones without the room feeling heavy. For a slightly softer approach, pairing a 1920s mural wallpaper with warm neutrals and textured fabrics can keep the look liveable rather than overly formal. If the furniture is more contemporary, the graphic precision of the patterns tends to bridge the gap between vintage reference and modern interior without feeling out of place.

Using Art Deco geometry in hallways and home offices

Hallways and home offices are also worth considering for 1920s wall murals. The structured nature of Art Deco patterns means they can add real character to a smaller or narrower space without overwhelming it. A geometric design in a hallway sets a tone from the moment you walk in, and the symmetry inherent in the style tends to sit well in corridors where wall space is limited. In a home office, a single wall of 1920s-inspired wallpaper can give the room a more defined visual identity, particularly when the rest of the décor is kept clean and unfussy.

If you want flexibility during installation, a peel-and-stick option is available. Wallism's 1920s wallpapers and wall murals are also made to measure, so the proportions can be fitted to your specific wall dimensions.
