Wallpaper Murals for Co-working Spaces

Co-working spaces present a genuine design challenge. A single floor plan can take in a reception desk, open-plan desks, private focus booths, meeting rooms and a communal kitchen, each with a different purpose and a different energy. Wallpapers are a practical way to give each zone its own character, helping people read a space intuitively without the need for constant signage or partitioning.

Zoning a shared space through wallpaper

One of the most useful things wallpaper can do in a co-working environment is define zones visually. A bold wall mural or a strong graphic pattern in an open collaboration area signals energy and movement, while a quieter, more textural wallpaper in a private booth or focus room creates a noticeably different atmosphere. This contrast doesn't require a complete redesign of the space; it can be achieved through colour, scale and pattern choices alone.

Reception areas and communal kitchens are well suited to something that reflects the overall identity of the space. A single accent wall with a mural wallpaper can set the tone for the whole environment, indicating whether the co-working brand leans creative, professional or somewhere between the two. Earthy neutrals and warm greens tend to feel grounding and sociable, while deep blues and charcoals can read as more focused and considered.

Pairing wallpaper with the materials already in the room

Most co-working interiors work with a mix of industrial and natural materials: exposed concrete, metal shelving, plywood furniture, pendant lighting. Wallpapers that carry a similar visual language, whether through abstract graphic shapes, architectural patterns or nature-inspired motifs, can sit comfortably alongside these elements without competing with them. Warmer tones, like terracotta, ochre or aged brass, can take the edge off a space that might otherwise feel too raw or impersonal.

For meeting rooms, the balance shifts slightly. Something with enough visual interest to feel intentional, but restrained enough not to distract, tends to work well. Geometric wallpapers, soft textural designs or mural wallpapers with a landscape or botanical quality can give a meeting room a grounded, considered feel while still keeping the walls from looking blank.

Adapting the approach to different co-working formats

Not all shared workspaces operate the same way. A creative studio will likely take a different visual approach than a corporate serviced office, and both differ from a neighbourhood co-working café. Bolder, more expressive wall murals suit spaces that want to signal creativity and community; more understated wallpaper choices tend to read as cleaner and easier to work alongside for longer stretches. Because commercial walls rarely follow standard proportions, made-to-measure wallpapers can be particularly useful for getting the right fit across corridors, reception walls and oddly shaped rooms.
