Wallpaper - London - Watercolor City Series

Our London - Watercolor City Series wallpaper captures the energetic spirit of the city through a vibrant watercolour and ink illustration. Designed by Wai Collective, the motif brings together iconic landmarks including Tower Bridge, the London Eye, and Westminster Abbey alongside classic street details like a red telephone booth and a traditional pub setting. Expressive splatters and loose washes of cobalt blue, bright red, and sunny yellow give the composition an artistic, hand-painted look full of movement. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design brings a lively focal point to any interior.

In the room

We see this expressive cityscape working especially well as a feature wall in a living room, home office, or teenage room where the architectural details can take centre stage. Because the artwork combines intricate linework with dynamic colour splashes across the horizon, we recommend hanging it on a relatively open wall where larger furniture will not conceal the landmark silhouettes. In a study or dining room, placing the design alongside clean sightlines allows the eye to travel naturally across the buildings and riverbank details. Generous daylight highlights the subtle tonal variations in the blue and yellow washes, while soft lamplight in the evening warms the richer red accents.

Styling it

To balance the lively energy and bright primary palette of this design, we suggest pairing it with furniture that has clean, contemporary lines and understated finishes.

• Keep large seating or desks in neutral tones like crisp white, soft grey, or charcoal so the wall mural remains the clear visual focus.
• Introduce dark metal accents, such as slim black picture frames or metal light fixtures, to mirror the crisp ink outlines within the architecture.
• Echo the wallpaper's vibrant highlights through small, intentional decorative touches like a cobalt ceramic vase or a crimson bookend.

Colour combinations

The illustration is built on a fresh white backdrop layered with vibrant cobalt blues, cheerful primary yellows, and bold pops of postbox red, with delicate dark ink line work providing definition. When selecting surrounding wall colours, we recommend sticking with clean off-whites or pale cool greys to keep the room feeling bright and spacious. If you want to create a more immersive or moody atmosphere, adjacent walls in a deep navy or slate blue can pick up the rich tones in the River Thames and night-sky washes.
