Wallpaper - Sino Vertical Lines, Red

Our Sino Vertical Lines, Red wallpaper pairs broad, painterly vertical bands in rich burgundy and deep red with a warm, soft cream background. Designed by Mary Urban, the composition brings a relaxed balance to a classic stripe, showing subtle brush stroke variations and soft, hand-painted edges that soften the geometry across the wall. The rhythm of alternating wide and narrow spacing gives the design an approachable, artistic character rather than a rigid architectural feel. Printed made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle paper texture, this design brings warmth, height, and visual structure to both classic and contemporary interiors.

In the room

The vertical orientation of our mural wallpapers naturally draws the eye upward, making it an effective choice for rooms where you want to emphasize ceiling height. In an entryway or hallway, the continuous vertical bands create an inviting sense of progression along the wall. In a living room, we particularly like using this pattern on a main wall behind a low sofa, where the height of the stripes remains visible and creates a grounded backdrop.

Because the repeat is balanced and rhythmic, this wallpaper also works across all four walls in more intimate spaces like a powder room, dining room, or nursery. The hand-painted quality keeps the pattern from feeling overpowering even in smaller spaces, while in a bedroom or guest room, placing it behind the headboard adds warmth and definition to the sleep area.

Styling it

The combination of classic striping and painterly edges makes this design adaptable across traditional, heritage, and modern interior schemes. To complement the warmth of the deep red and cream tones, we suggest pairing the wallpaper with warm mid-tone timber furniture, such as walnut or warm oak, which grounds the palette without competing with the stripe.

For surrounding furnishings, softer upholstered pieces in neutral woven textiles help keep the focus on the wall while maintaining a comfortable, layered atmosphere. Keep decorative hardware and lighting relatively understated, using antique brass, muted bronze, or matte black to subtly echo the warmth and structure of the vertical bands.

Colour combinations

The pattern itself is defined by deep burgundy red set against a gentle cream base. When choosing paint for adjacent walls, skirting, or architraves, creamy off-whites and warm muted beiges create a natural, cohesive transition that lets the red stripes stand out.

If you prefer a deeper, more enveloping scheme, drawing out the burgundy tones for surrounding painted woodwork or an accent piece creates a rich, heritage-inspired environment. The warm undertones of the design also sit comfortably alongside muted earthy shades, olive greens, and warm neutral linens.
