Wallpaper - Parrotfish

Our Parrotfish wallpaper presents a classic naturalist illustration of a tropical parrotfish set against a clean, warm parchment-toned background. Rendered with a watercolour-like visual character, the design captures the intricate layering of individual scales, transitioning from deep mossy olive greens to muted coral, mauve, and soft periwinkle blue across the fins. We love how the solitary motif commands attention while leaving generous negative space, giving the composition a refined, heritage feel. Produced as made-to-measure mural wallpapers on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, this design brings a distinctive maritime curiosity into the home.

In the room

Because the artwork centres on a single detailed illustration with ample surrounding open space, we see this wall mural working particularly well as an intentional focal point. In a dining room, powder room, or bathroom, placing it on a primary feature wall allows the delicate watercolour details to be appreciated up close without overwhelming the surrounding space.

It also adapts gracefully to more playful settings, such as a child's bedroom, playroom, or a dedicated home office. In an entryway or hallway, where wall space is often narrow or viewed in passing, the clear profile of the fish creates an immediate visual statement. Giving the design an uninterrupted section of wall ensures the horizontal silhouette and tail fin have plenty of breathing room.

Styling it

We suggest pairing this design with interior elements that honour its archival, natural-history character without feeling overly formal. Mid-toned or dark timber furniture, such as warm oak, walnut, or mahogany, complements the classical illustration style and grounds the lighter background.

To keep the room feeling balanced, keep surrounding patterns minimal and let the wallpaper carry the decorative focus. Clean-lined brass or antiqued bronze hardware provides a warm, understated metallic note that mirrors the ochre and golden accents in the eye and fin details.

Colour combinations

The illustration itself features a nuanced spectrum of colours: earthy moss green, muted terracotta, dusty purple, and subtle slate blue, all resting on an off-white, light beige ground.

When choosing adjacent wall paint, cabinetry, or trim colours, we recommend drawing directly from these muted tones. An earthy olive green or warm stone grey creates an enveloping, cohesive mood on neighbouring walls or skirting boards. For a lighter, more airy feel, a soft warm white or pale linen tone matches the paper's natural background while keeping the overall atmosphere bright.
