Wallpaper - Cadmium Orange Poppies on Blue

Our Cadmium Orange Poppies on Blue wallpaper by Michael Clark brings together luminous floral forms and expressive painterly texture. Slender stems crowned with vibrant cadmium orange and rich red poppy blooms rise from two tall yellow vases, set against a layered blue background with deep indigo undertones. The painterly brushwork and bold tonal contrast give this still life mural a confident, contemporary artistic presence. Produced to your exact dimensions, our PVC-free wallpapers are designed to be straightforward to hang and feature a subtle physical paper structure.

In the room

Because the composition relies on vertical stems and bold focal vases, we would place this design on a main wall where the artwork can be viewed without heavy visual interruption. It works wonderfully as a feature wall behind a bed in the bedroom or as the central backdrop behind a sofa in the living room. In a dining room or an open-plan kitchen, the bright floral motif brings warmth and visual energy to the gathering space. The strong verticality of the vases and stems also makes our mural wallpapers an engaging choice for a hallway, staircase landing, or home office where you want to add distinct artistic character.

Styling it

We recommend balancing the painterly intensity of the wallpaper with furniture that has clean, architectural lines. Mid-century modern silhouettes, contemporary low-profile seating, or simple dining tables prevent the room from feeling crowded around the vivid motif. Warm timber finishes such as walnut, teak, or honeyed oak echo the golden tones of the vases, while sleek black metal or dark matte hardware grounds the blues in the background. Keep larger textiles relatively calm, choosing textured natural fabrics in plain weaves so the wallpaper remains the clear visual centrepiece of the room.

Colour combinations

The design features an energetic palette of cadmium orange, poppy red, sunny yellow, and deep painterly blues. When selecting surrounding colours for adjacent walls, trim, or upholstery, soft warm neutrals and light sand tones provide a clean and quiet frame. If you want to carry the artwork's richness across the room, deep navy or slate blue paint on neighbouring surfaces creates an intimate, cohesive atmosphere. For smaller decorative accents, picking up on the bright yellow or warm poppy red through cushions or glazed ceramics creates an intentional, harmonious palette.
