Wallpaper - Powerful Horse II - Watercolor Spirit Animals Series

In this design from Wai Collective, a rearing brown horse takes centre stage with an energetic, watercolour-like style. Fluid brushwork and gestural splatters in earthy tan, green, ochre, and deep black radiate across a clean white backdrop, capturing movement and natural power. What we particularly like is how the balance between bold strokes and delicate washes gives the animal form both weight and lightness. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, creating an expressive focal point that is easy to hang.

In the room

Because the central motif carries such dynamic motion, we think this wallpaper works best on a generous, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full silhouette has room to breathe. In a living room, placing it along the main wall behind a low sofa allows the rising movement of the horse to elevate the entire space without feeling crowded. It brings a confident, artistic atmosphere to a study or home office, offering visual depth directly across from a desk. We also see this working exceptionally well as a feature wall in a bedroom or guest room, where the crisp white background maintains an airy feel while the earthy brushstrokes anchor the room.

Styling it

To let the artwork remain the focal point, we would surround it with relatively understated furniture in clean, transitional or modern farmhouse profiles. Warm natural wood tones like honeyed ash or rustic oak connect effortlessly with the sienna and tan washes in the paintwork. For textiles, we suggest neutral upholstery and woven fabrics in cream, warm taupe, or soft charcoal rather than busy patterns, keeping the visual weight balanced across the interior.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper itself combines deep sienna brown, dark charcoal, and warm tan with subtle washes of soft green and ochre set against an off-white ground. On adjacent walls, we suggest matching the background with a soft, warm white or pale stone tone to create an open and cohesive boundary. If you want more contrast in your trim or woodwork, pulling out the deeper sienna or a muted olive green adds refined character without clashing with the central illustration.
