Wallpaper - Neutral Mist I

Created by June Erica Vess, our Neutral Mist I wallpaper brings an atmospheric, painterly composition of soft washes and misty earth tones to the wall. The design builds from deeper sepia, charcoal, and warm taupe tones at the base into airy ochre, sand, and pale blush-beige hues towards the top. What we especially like about this mural wallpaper is its gentle watercolor-like layering, where organic brushwork and subtle visual texture create depth without overwhelming a room. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to fit your specific dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We see this design working beautifully in a bedroom or a calm living room, particularly as a feature wall behind a bed or sofa. The upward transition from richer, grounding dark tones at the lower section to a lighter, diffused mist at the top gives walls a natural sense of height. In rooms with good natural daylight, the delicate tonal variations between the ochre, beige, and charcoal washes come forward, while in lower evening light the darker base anchors the space with a warm, enveloping mood.

Because the composition is painterly and open rather than rigid, it also suits spaces like a dining room or a dedicated home study where you want visual interest across a wider, uninterrupted wall.

Styling it

To complement the earthy, organic character of the mural, we would pair it with furniture in warm natural materials and understated silhouettes. Low-profile pieces allow the full vertical progression of the artwork to stay visible, so choosing a bedframe without an oversized headboard or keeping sideboard heights moderate works particularly well here.

For surrounding textures, we recommend tactile fabrics such as washed linen, wool throws, or boucle in neutral shades that echo the lighter tones in the upper portion of the design. A touch of blackened steel or dark stained wood in accent tables or lighting can pick up on the deeper charcoal marks at the base, creating a cohesive, grounded look throughout the room.

Colour combinations

The design itself centers around a nuanced palette of warm taupe, charcoal, sandy beige, soft ochre, and pale blush. When selecting paint colours for adjacent walls or woodwork, we suggest taking cues from these tonal layers:

• Warm off-whites and pale beige shades that match the upper background keep the surrounding space bright and cohesive.
• Deeper earth tones such as warm grey, muted taupe, or soft charcoal on skirting boards, doors, or built-in cabinetry will echo the grounded base of the artwork.
• Subtle accents in terracotta, mustard, or olive green in cushions or artwork can gently highlight the warm ochre undertones within the print.
