Wallpaper - Good Morning Cup

Good Morning Cup by Kate Jarvik Birch brings a bold, painterly still life to the wall with its focus on a classic blue coffee cup, matching saucer, and teaspoon. Painted with expressive gouache or acrylic-style brushstrokes, the design highlights deep cobalt and ultramarine blues, balanced by crisp white rims, soft grey shading, and a cool muted sage-grey background. The large-scale central composition gives a familiar morning ritual an artistic presence. Our wall murals are made-to-measure to fit your room dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because of the strong central subject and graphic scale, we see this wall mural working particularly well as an accent wall in a kitchen, dining room, or breakfast nook. Placing it on a wall behind a dining table or near a coffee station gives the space a clear focal point without feeling cluttered. In an open-plan living area, it can help anchor the dining zone and define the room's purpose. The quiet, cool-toned background allows the deep blue porcelain to stand out, while the painted brushwork softens the graphic feel of the still life.

Styling it

We would keep the surrounding decor relatively simple to let the artwork take centre stage. The strong blue and graphic painted lines pair naturally with clean-lined timber furniture, such as natural ash or pale oak dining chairs and tables. For a grounded setting, matte black accents or understated stainless steel elements echo the teaspoon and cup handle details. Keeping nearby accessories unpatterned allows the mural wallpaper to remain the primary visual feature of the room.

Colour combinations

The design centres on rich cobalt and deep blue tones, balanced with crisp whites, charcoal shadows, and a calm, greenish-grey backdrop. For adjacent walls, we would recommend soft muted neutrals, chalky off-whites, or pale grey-green shades that carry the background colour across the room. If you want a more dramatic contrast, pairing this mural with deeper navy cabinetry or dark slate grey accents will emphasize the intense blue glaze of the cup.
