Wallpaper - Ancient Rock Village

In our Ancient Rock Village wallpaper, dramatic rock spires with hand-carved windows rise across the landscape, set against a stone hillside village and a clear, lightly clouded blue sky. Creator Barry Van Wagner captures the rich dialogue between natural geology and ancient architecture, where weathered stone dwellings blend directly into the sloping terrain alongside green vegetation. Printed as a made-to-measure mural, the design brings an expansive, architectural presence into an interior. It is PVC-free and features a subtle physical structure in the wallpaper paper that adds an authentic, tactile depth to the sweeping panoramic scene.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well on a wide, uninterrupted feature wall in a living room, where the expansive horizon and dramatic vertical stone towers have space to unfold naturally. The open sky and sloping hillside create a strong sense of architectural depth, making the room feel connected to an open, sunlit landscape. Because the lower half of the scene carries rich textural detail across the rock formations and hillside, positioning lower-profile furniture along the wall allows the full scope of the historic townscape to remain in view.

Styling it

To complement the rustic, historic mood of the landscape, we would pair this wall mural with natural textures and grounded finishes. Low-slung seating in tactile linen or woven upholstery lets the height of the stone formations command visual attention without competing for prominence. Warm wood furniture, such as untreated oak or weathered timber, echoes the organic shapes and earthy character of the rock dwellings. Keeping surrounding decorative accessories minimal and grounded helps maintain the open, architectural quality of the mural.

Colour combinations

The design is built around an authentic palette of warm stone beige, sandy grey, soft green, and sky blue. To create a cohesive interior, we recommend drawing out the muted stone tones for adjacent painted walls or architectural trim. Soft, chalky off-whites or sandy greiges provide a clean, natural transition, while deep olive greens in upholstery or cushions can pull out the scattered foliage that dots the hillside.
