Wallpaper - Yellow Headed Blackbird

Captured by Nathan Larson, this photographic wallpaper features a yellow-headed blackbird perched among feathery, sunlit reeds against a softly blurred, atmospheric background. What we particularly like about our design is the gentle contrast between the crisp, dark feathers and warm golden head of the bird and the hazy, muted beige and pale sky tones surrounding it. The composition leaves generous visual breathing room, creating an open, scenic mural wallpaper that brings quiet nature into the home. Like all our wall murals, it is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions, printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure.

In the room

In a living room or bedroom, we would place this design on an uninterrupted feature wall where the central photographic subject and soft horizon have room to breathe. The expansive, muted background makes it easy to live with across larger spaces, while the delicate detail of the reed plumes adds visual depth without overwhelming the room. It also works beautifully along a calm dining space or a home office wall positioned opposite a window, where natural daylight enhances the subtle, pale hues in the sky and meadow tones.

Styling it

We recommend keeping surrounding furnishings simple and grounded to let the photographic composition take centre stage. Low-profile furniture in natural materials such as warm ash, pale oak, or brushed dark metal complements both the golden plumage and the deeper tones of the bird. Textiles in soft linen, undyed wool, or muted oatmeal echo the feathery textures of the reeds and maintain a balanced, serene setting.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper is grounded in soft oat, sandy beige, and pale sky grey, with focused accents of deep black and warm golden amber in the bird itself. For adjacent walls and trim, warm off-whites, gentle stone, or pale biscuit shades maintain an airy, seamless transition. If you want to draw out the deeper focal point, subtle dark charcoal accents or warm honey tones in furniture and textiles tie the whole room together effortlessly.
