Wallpaper - The East Temple

Created by Laura Marshall, our The East Temple wallpaper captures a dramatic black-and-white mountain landscape defined by towering rock formations, deep shadows, and sweeping cloud cover. What we particularly like about this design is the contrast between the sunlit cliff faces and the dark, textured valleys below, giving the scene genuine depth and presence. The photographic composition draws the eye upward toward the illuminated peak, creating a commanding focal point on an accent wall. In the room

Because of the bold vertical scale and rich tonal contrast in the photograph, we see this working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall in a living room or a dedicated study. Giving the mountain scenery a wider wall allows the full breadth of the rock formations and dynamic sky to unfold without feeling crowded. In a living room, placing this design behind a low sofa keeps the dramatic peaks fully visible, anchoring the seating area. In a study or home library, the deep charcoal tones and natural scenery create a grounded, contemplative atmosphere across the main wall.

Styling it

To balance the strong contrasts of the photograph, we would keep the surrounding interior elements clean and grounded. Low-profile furniture works well here, as it leaves the central peak unobstructed. In terms of materials, matte black metal fixtures echo the deepest shadows in the landscape, while warm, unvarnished wood pieces add warmth against the cool greys of the stone. Simple textured upholstery in neutral weaves lets the landscape remain the primary focus in the room.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on monochromatic greys, transitioning from deep charcoal and jet black in the rocky foreground to soft slate, stone grey, and off-white in the sunlit cliffs and clouds.
