Wallpaper - Your Orbit

Our Your Orbit wallpaper by Kate Jarvik Birch centres on an open hand cradling a softly glowing full moon against a deep, painterly background. The composition uses broad, expressive brushstrokes and rich tonal contrasts, balancing the warm terracotta, crimson, and ochre highlights of the hand with the cool, luminous whites and misty greys of the lunar surface. Set against a dark teal-slate backdrop with visible visual movement, the single focal point creates an atmospheric and artistic presence on the wall. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper, this wall mural brings a considered, painterly character to residential interiors.

In the room

Because of the bold scale and central placement of the moon and hand, we see this mural wallpaper working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall where the entire motif can be appreciated without heavy visual breaks. In a bedroom, placing it directly behind the bed creates an enveloping, quiet focal point that anchors the space. It also works beautifully in a living room behind a low-backed sofa, or in a quiet study where the dark backdrop adds intimacy and depth. For smaller rooms or compact reading corners, giving this design a dedicated wall creates an atmospheric alcove effect without overwhelming adjacent spaces.

Styling it

To complement the rich, painterly quality of the design, we suggest pairing it with furniture that carries clean lines and unpretentious silhouettes. Low-profile seating in textured woven fabrics allows the mural to remain the clear visual centrepiece of the room. Warm wood tones, such as walnut or mid-toned oak, echo the warm terracotta and amber highlights in the hand, grounding the composition naturally. We would keep decorative accessories relatively minimal and restrained, letting the strong contrast and expressive brushwork of the wallpaper set the tone for the space.

Colour combinations

The design itself features a palette of deep slate teal, luminous pale grey, soft white, and layered tones of terracotta, burgundy, and warm ochre. When selecting surrounding wall colours for adjacent surfaces, we recommend echoing the darker background with muted charcoal blues or deep smoky teals for a cocooning, cohesive aesthetic. Alternatively, if you prefer a lighter contrast, soft chalky whites, pale dove greys, or muted warm neutrals on surrounding walls and trim allow the mural wallpaper to stand out vividly while harmonising with the lunar highlights.
