Wallpaper - Whispers in Clay I

Our Whispers in Clay I wallpaper by Nikita Jariwala brings a painterly still life onto the wall with quiet, grounded warmth. The composition features a rounded, soft mint-green ceramic jug with broad white painted stripes, holding delicate, leafy olive-brown branches. The background divides gently between a soft terracotta surface below and a muted blush and dusty mauve backdrop above, showcasing expressive, visible brushstrokes. Printed made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design acts as an inviting focal point for calm interior spaces.

In the room

We see this design working beautifully as a dedicated feature wall in a dining room, kitchen nook, or living room where the painted composition has space to unfold. Because of the central placement of the jug and the upward reach of the botanical branches, we would place this wallpaper on a relatively open wall, such as behind a low sideboard, a dining bench, or a reading armchair. This allows the full still-life motif to remain clearly visible without tall storage units cutting into the painted vessel or the delicate leaves above.

Styling it

To complement the artisanal character of the design, we would lean towards relaxed, contemporary styling with understated materials. Low-profile furniture in light or warm wood tones pairs naturally with the warm terracotta lower plane of the artwork. Keep surrounding accessories simple: matte ceramics, unglazed pottery, and woven elements harmonise with the painterly aesthetic without competing for visual attention.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on terracotta, dusty blush, soft mint green, crisp white, and deep olive brown. When choosing colours for surrounding walls and trim, warm neutrals such as soft linen or warm off-white echo the muted upper backdrop and keep the room airy. If you want a more grounded, enveloping atmosphere, pulling a rich terracotta or warm clay tone from the lower section onto adjacent woodwork or cabinetry creates a cohesive and intentional look.
