Wallpaper - Matahari

Our Matahari wallpaper, designed by Treechild, brings a cheerful sun with a friendly smiling face right to the centre of the wall. Set against a clean white background, the bright yellow sun radiates graphic rays and features subtle pink cheeks, framed by soft blue and navy clouds. The flat illustrative style and bold contours give the motif an uplifting, storybook character without overwhelming the room. Printed as made-to-measure wallpaper on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it creates a warm, welcoming presence in family living spaces.

In the room

We see this design working especially well in a nursery, toddler room, children's bedroom, or playroom. Because the motif is arranged with a clear focal point, we like placing it on an uninterrupted feature wall where the central sun and surrounding clouds have plenty of space to breathe. It works naturally on the main wall behind a cot, low toddler bed, or a reading nook. In smaller children's bedrooms, keeping the design on a single wall allows the graphic blue and yellow elements to add personality while the white backdrop maintains an airy, open feel across the space.

Styling it

To complement the playful illustration, we would focus on simple, unvarnished furniture and soft, tactile textiles.

• Pair the motif with light, natural wood such as birch or pale ash for cots, low shelving, and toy storage to keep the room grounded and light.
• Introduce plain textiles in washed navy, sky blue, or muted mustard to echo the palette of the clouds and sun without competing for attention.
• Keep wall decor on adjacent walls minimal, using rounded, child-friendly shapes in lighting and furniture to reflect the curves of the clouds.

Colour combinations

The motif centres on sunny yellow, soft sky blue, and deep navy against a clear white ground, with small touches of soft pink. For surrounding painted walls, skirting boards, or built-in joinery, we suggest working with clean off-white or pale chalky blue tones to keep the atmosphere relaxed. If you prefer a richer contrast, deep navy paint on adjacent woodwork or low cupboards ties directly into the darker cloud outlines, anchoring the room while letting the yellow sun remain the main attraction.
