Wallpaper - Deep Movement II

Our Deep Movement II wallpaper, created in collaboration with Yvette St. Amant, captures the organic flow and sculptural depth of thick, swept paint. A soft, winding central pathway in gentle greige and taupe divides dynamic sweeps of off-white and pale grey, evoking the visual character of layered impasto strokes. What we particularly appreciate about this design is the balance between broad, sweeping motion and delicate, feather-like ridges along the edges. Printed made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it brings an artistic, expressive presence to interior walls while remaining grounded in a calm, neutral palette.

In the room

In a spacious living room or open dining area, we would place this design on a generous, uninterrupted feature wall where its sweeping curves have plenty of room to unfold. The fluid vertical movement naturally draws the eye upward, making it especially effective on walls with taller ceilings or behind lower furniture, such as a low-profile sofa or an open sideboard. For a serene primary bedroom, placing this mural wallpaper behind the bed creates a soft, enveloping backdrop that feels expansive yet quiet. The nuanced tonal shifts between pale grey, off-white, and warm greige respond beautifully to shifting daylight, revealing subtle variations in the visual texture throughout the day.

Styling it

We recommend styling this design with minimalist or contemporary furniture that echoes its fluid, sculptural quality. Low-slung silhouettes and softly rounded forms complement the sweeping lines of the motif without competing for attention. To balance the cool-leaning grey and crisp off-white strokes, introduce warm wood accents such as natural ash or bleached oak in coffee tables or shelving. Matte ceramic decor, unglazed stoneware, and softly textured linen upholstery in stone or cream pair effortlessly with the artwork's painted character, keeping the overall interior cohesive and grounded.

Colour combinations

The design centres on a refined neutral palette of chalky off-white, pale slate grey, soft taupe, and muted greige. When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls and trim, warm neutrals like soft stone, bone, or pale mushroom maintain an airy, harmonious flow. If you prefer subtle contrast, deeper taupe, charcoal accents, or warm putty tones on doors, skirting boards, or focal furniture pieces will pull out the darker shadows within the painterly swirls.
