Wallpaper - Penn Waters - Screenprint Postcard

Our Penn Waters wallpaper presents a scenic landscape inspired by vintage mid-century postcards, originally created by The Tichnor Brothers. The design captures a winding blue river carving through a patchwork of green, golden yellow, and earthy brown fields. On the left, a rocky bluff is dotted with red blossoms and dense foliage, where a solitary figure rests beneath a tall pine tree under a soft sky of blended blue and yellow. Printed to order as a made-to-measure mural, this PVC-free wallpaper has a subtle physical structure in the paper and brings a tranquil, illustrative vista into the home.

In the room

Because the motif is structured as a wide, painterly vista, we think it works best on an open, uninterrupted wall where the river and surrounding valley have space to unfold. In a living room, dining room, or study, positioning the design behind lower furniture, like a sofa, low credenza, or desk, preserves the expansive horizontal perspective and allows the cliffside details on the left to frame the room naturally. The composition also suits a guest bedroom or hallway, where the gentle shift from rich foreground greenery to the distant horizon introduces visual depth without overpowering the room.

Styling it

To complement the mid-century print character and traditional Americana feel of the scene, we suggest pairing this wallpaper with furniture made from warm or medium-toned wood. Keeping the surrounding decor grounded in classic silhouettes helps balance the illustrative quality of the artwork. Tailored upholstery in plain, quiet fabrics allows the intricate foliage and field patterns to remain the primary visual focus of the space.

Colour combinations

The design is built around a palette of cornflower blue, golden yellow, earthy brown, forest green, and subtle accents of floral red. For adjacent walls and painted woodwork, soft warm whites, muted chamois, or pale straw tones pick up the light in the upper sky and keep the room bright. If you want a moodier, more enveloping space, drawing out the deeper olive greens or rich river blue for surrounding joinery or accent seating creates a cohesive, grounded interior.
