Wallpaper - Sphere II

Our Sphere II wallpaper brings together an expressive abstract composition by artist Kathy Ferguson, layered with painterly washes, graphic geometric blocks, and fine linear markings. The design balances cool tones of cornflower blue, soft lavender, and slate grey against lively accents of magenta, warm yellow, and muted olive green. What we particularly appreciate about this mural wallpaper is the delicate interplay between broad, brushed areas of colour and sharp, architectural details such as horizontal hatching, floating squares, and soft circular silhouettes. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that lends gentle depth to the artwork.

In the room

In an open living room or a dedicated dining space, this design works especially well as an accent wall where the full abstract composition can unfold without too much visual interruption. Because the artwork combines distinct horizontal bands with buoyant, floating shapes across the upper half, we suggest placing it on a wider wall behind a low-backed sofa, a sideboard, or a dining table. This allows the intricate linework in the lower register to remain visible while the lighter pastel fields draw the eye upward, giving the space a balanced and airy feel.

We also see Sphere II working beautifully in a creative home office or a tranquil bedroom. In a bedroom setting, placing the wall mural behind the headboard anchors the sleeping area with colour and movement, while the softer lilac and chalky blue tones create a calm backdrop. In smaller rooms or entryway spaces, the variation in scale between broad colour fields and fine details gives the wall an engaging focal point that catches curiosity from up close.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we suggest keeping larger furniture relatively clean-lined and understated so the vibrant artwork remains the primary visual statement. Simple silhouettes in mid-toned woods or matte painted finishes harmonise effortlessly with the composition, grounding the dynamic shifts between vivid magenta and tranquil blues.

To build a cohesive look, echo some of the wallpaper’s tactile visual character through your soft furnishings. Smooth wool or woven textiles in neutral oat, charcoal, or washed denim pick up on the graphic linework and cooler colour patches without competing for attention. A few deliberate decorative touches in brushed metal or glazed ceramic will catch the light and complement the rich, layered feel of the painted surface.

Colour combinations

The design itself features an intriguing palette of dusty lavender, vivid magenta pink, cornflower blue, sunny yellow, slate grey, and muted olive.

To create a balanced interior, you can pair it with surrounding walls painted in soft off-white, pale pearl grey, or a delicate chalky mauve to let the wallpaper take centre stage. For a bolder, more enveloping scheme, drawing out the deeper slate grey or dusty blue on adjacent walls or painted joinery adds sophisticated contrast and frames the mural wallpaper with architectural definition.
