Wallpaper - Hunting Dog Portrait

Our Hunting Dog Portrait wallpaper by Danhui Nai presents a poised pointer dog set against an atmospheric, painterly woodland backdrop. What we particularly like about this design is the contrast between the crisp, white and tan markings of the dog and the deep, blended earthy tones of the forest shadows. Rendered with a fine-art, painted appearance, the large central subject brings an immediate sense of classic character and quiet composure to a room. Like all of our mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to your specific wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because of the scale and singular composition of the subject, we see this working best as a dedicated feature wall where the full figure has room to breathe. In a living room, hallway, or a quiet study, giving the wallpaper an uninterrupted stretch of wall allows the depth of the dark background to anchor the space. The painted landscape behind the dog creates visual depth without relying on busy, repetitive motifs. In rooms with softer, warm artificial lighting or indirect natural daylight, the olive, brown, and amber tones in the background recede gently, letting the dog stand out with striking clarity.

Styling it

We would pair this wall mural with interior elements that echo its classic heritage character. Furniture in warm, darker woods like walnut or aged timber complements the deep tones of the background, while classic upholstered seating in understated neutrals lets the artwork remain the clear focal point. To keep the atmosphere balanced, we recommend avoiding high-contrast modern patterns nearby and instead focusing on textured, quiet materials like woven wool throws, dark bronze accents, or traditional brass hardware that align with the timeless tone of the painting.

Colour combinations

The palette within our wallpaper is grounded in deep forest greens, earthy olives, warm chestnut browns, and ochre, balanced by the bright off-white and tan patches of the dog. For the surrounding walls and trim, we like using soft, muted neutrals such as warm stone, parchment, or putty to reflect the lighter tones in the hound's coat. If you want a more enveloping, moody room, deep moss greens or warm umber shades pulled directly from the background foliage will create a seamless, cohesive transition.
