Wallpaper - Folk Animals I

Our Folk Animals I wallpaper by Omar Escalante brings together folk-art-inspired illustration and bold graphic framing. At the centre of the composition, an expressive black monkey with warm red linear detailing is surrounded by stylized pink floral blossoms and soft green leaves, all set against a warm ochre background and bordered by a geometric teal diamond pattern. The tile-like structure and clear visual contours give this design an unmistakable illustrative presence on the wall. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our wallpaper is designed to be straightforward to hang while creating an engaging focal point.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well as an accent wall in a living room, dining area, hallway, or creative home office where its central illustrative figure can be appreciated in full. Because the artwork is composed with a framing border and a distinct central subject, giving it an uninterrupted wall allows the complete motif to anchor the room naturally. In a dining room or behind a low sofa, the bold silhouette and warm ochre tones create a welcoming, conversational backdrop. In a compact entryway or guest room, the playful character of the motif instantly gives the space personality without overwhelming it.

Styling it

To let the graphic artwork take centre stage, we would pair this design with clean-lined furniture in warm natural timber or painted matte finishes. Mid-century modern shapes or simple rustic pieces complement the folk-art character especially well. Keep decorative accessories relatively restrained around the main wall so the detailed linework and floral elements remain distinct. Adding tactile ceramic accents or soft, unpatterned fabrics in neutral tones will ground the room and create a balanced, lived-in feel.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper centres on warm ochre, rich black, deep red accents, vibrant pink flowers, and muted sage-green leaves, all framed by deep teal. To complement these tones across the rest of the room, consider pulling the muted sage or earthy ochre onto adjacent painted walls or woodwork for an enveloping scheme. Alternatively, clean warm off-whites provide a fresh contrast that highlights the artwork's graphic borders. Soft terracotta, dusky rose, or deep teal accents in upholstery and decorative objects will tie effortlessly into the motif's richer hues.
