Wallpaper - Espresso Morning

Our Espresso Morning wallpaper mural, created by artist Kate Jarvik Birch, brings a bold, painterly still life to the wall. The design centres on a vibrant turquoise espresso cup and saucer resting beside a silver spoon, filled with rich dark coffee and cast in expressive, gouache-style brushstrokes. Broad turquoise, cobalt, and sky blue tones meet crisp white highlights and deep espresso browns, set against a pale, neutral cream backdrop. What we particularly like is how the dramatic scale transforms an intimate morning ritual into an eye-catching focal point. Produced to order as custom wall murals, our wallpapers are PVC-free and printed on paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We love seeing this design make a statement in a bright kitchen, dining area, or a dedicated coffee nook. Because of its generous visual scale and graphic presence, we would place this mural wallpaper on an accent wall where it has room to breathe, such as beside a breakfast table or along a dining wall. In an open-plan kitchen and living space, it works wonderfully to define the eating area without overwhelming the rest of the room. The clean off-white background allows the vivid blues to stand out cleanly, while daylight brings out the dynamic, layered brushwork across the cup and saucer.

Styling it

To balance the strong graphic character of the artwork, we suggest pairing it with clean-lined furniture and simple materials. Mid-century dining chairs, warm timber finishes, or crisp white cabinetry allow the vivid blue tones to remain the primary focus.

• Warm wood furniture, such as honey oak, walnut, or birch, offers a natural visual warmth that balances the cool cerulean and cobalt palette.
• Matte black or polished chrome fixtures and dining accents echo the metallic tones of the painted spoon and the dark espresso within the cup.
• Keeping surrounding decorative objects minimal and unfussy ensures the large-scale still life remains the clear centrepiece of the room.

Colour combinations

The palette within our design revolves around vibrant turquoise, deep cerulean blue, soft cream, and dark coffee brown with touches of terracotta. For adjacent walls and surrounding trim, soft off-whites, warm linen tones, or light biscuit hues provide an effortless match that mirrors the background of the painting. If you want a more adventurous room scheme, deep navy or rich espresso accents can be introduced through dining furniture, shelving, or pendant lighting to echo the cup's shadowy depths.
