Wallpaper - Topeka Wyoming Skyline Concrete

Our Topeka Skyline Concrete wallpaper by Michael Tompsett captures the distinct architectural profile of the city skyline in a bold silhouette set against a textured, stone-grey concrete backdrop. The composition anchors detailed building silhouettes, including the prominent dome of the state capitol, across the horizontal centre, grounding them with expressive ink splatters and brushwork at the base. The contrast between the charcoal silhouette and the warm, weathered plaster background gives our design a graphic, urban character. As with all our wall murals, it is made-to-measure and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

In a living room or home office, we like how the horizontal band of the skyline creates a strong visual anchor without overwhelming the entire wall height. Because the upper portion of the design remains open with its neutral concrete background, this mural wallpaper works particularly well behind a low sofa, a desk, or a bed, where the architecture remains fully visible above the furniture line.

In a hallway or open-plan living area, giving the mural a wider, uninterrupted wall allows the full progression of the skyline and bridge details to be appreciated from across the room. The generous negative space above the buildings keeps the overall feel light and open, making it suitable even in rooms with standard ceiling heights.

Styling it

The industrial character of this wallpaper pairs naturally with modern and urban-inspired interiors. We would balance the graphic silhouette by introducing warm, tactile elements around the room to keep the space comfortable and welcoming.

• Choose furniture in warm oak, walnut, or rich leather to soften the cool, architectural lines of the city silhouette.
• Add matte black metal accents in lighting fixtures or slender shelf frames to subtly echo the charcoal tones in the artwork.
• Use natural woven textiles such as woollen throws or ribbed rugs to bring depth and warmth to the room without introducing competing patterns.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on deep charcoal and soft, weathered concrete grey with subtle warm undertones. Around the mural, we suggest pairing adjacent walls with warm off-whites, pale stone greys, or muted taupe to let the artwork stand out naturally. For a more dramatic atmosphere in a study or den, deep charcoal or slate grey paint on adjacent walls or joinery creates a cohesive, wrap-around feel that complements the dark skyline.
