Wallpaper - Moonlit Garden II

Our Moonlit Garden II wallpaper, created with Katie Pertiet, brings a vintage entomological study into a quiet, layered wall mural. At the centre of the composition sits an illustrated butterfly in soft icy blue, white, and charcoal black, framed by archival German typography, aged ornamental flourishes, botanical leaves, and delicate tea-stained ink splatters. The parchment-toned background gives the design a warm, collected feel that works beautifully on an accent wall. Like all Wallism mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your room dimensions and is completely PVC-free.

In the room

Because of the strong central focal point, we see this wall mural working particularly well on a main feature wall where the central illustration remains clear and unobstructed. In a bedroom, it makes a calm backdrop placed directly behind a bed with a lower headboard, allowing the butterfly and vintage lettering to sit at eye level. In a home office, study, or living room, we would give it an uninterrupted wall opposite a seating area or behind a writing desk.

The soft, low-contrast neutral backdrop ensures the wallpaper does not overwhelm smaller rooms, while the delicate botanical and script details reward closer viewing. In rooms with gentle morning or afternoon daylight, the subtle tonal shifts between cream, ecru, and pale blue appear especially soft.

Styling it

We would keep the surrounding decor restrained and thoughtful to complement the archival, vintage character of the design:

• Pair the wallpaper with dark wood furniture, such as antique walnut or aged oak, which echoes the vintage collector aesthetic without competing with the illustration.
• Choose natural woven textiles like unbleached linen or textured wool for curtains and bedding to reinforce the organic, paper-inspired mood.
• Introduce understated antique brass or muted bronze accents in table lamps or hardware to pick up the warm sepia and tea-stained tones in the background.

Colour combinations

The palette within our wallpaper is built on a base of warm parchment, aged cream, and soft ecru, accented by charcoal, pale icy blue, and muted olive green.

For adjacent walls and woodwork, we suggest pairing this design with warm off-whites, pale stone, or soft greige to create a seamless, enveloping atmosphere. If you prefer a richer contrast, a deep charcoal, slate grey, or muted forest green drawn from the botanical elements will frame the wall mural with added depth.
