Wallpaper - Buttercup Meadow, Sand

Our Buttercup Meadow, Sand wallpaper brings an illustrative botanical scene to life with cheerful sunflower yellow buttercups, soft white daisies with delicate pink centres, and varied wild grasses. Created by Maria Trolle with a watercolour-inspired character, the motif weaves together detailed foliage and meadow flowers against a calm, warm sand background. What we particularly appreciate about this design is how the upward movement of the stems balances the layered floral detail, creating an organic rhythm across the wall. Printed to order to your specific wall dimensions, our wallpapers are PVC-free and produced on a paper with a subtle physical structure that is straightforward to hang.

In the room

We see this botanical design working naturally in bedrooms, living rooms, nurseries, and dining rooms where its gentle palette and organic flow can set the tone for the space. In a bedroom or nursery, placing the mural behind a bed or cot gives the meadow illustration room to flourish upward without feeling crowded. For a living room or dining area, we would use it on a broader, relatively uninterrupted wall so the natural spacing and variety of the wildflowers remain fully visible. Because the sand backdrop has a soft, earthy tone, the design sits comfortably across larger wall expanses without overwhelming the space.

Styling it

The heritage botanical feel of this pattern pairs particularly well with English country and relaxed classic interiors. We would balance the delicate linework of the wildflowers with quiet, painted furniture or light, warm-toned woods that let the wallpaper remain the focal point. To keep the room feeling cohesive and calm, simple woven upholstery and plain, unpatterned window dressings allow the rich greens and sunny buttercup tones in the illustration to stand out naturally.

Colour combinations

The design features a warm palette of sunflower yellow, fresh leafy greens, and soft white petals with pink accents, all grounded by an earthy sand base. When choosing surrounding colours for adjacent walls, woodwork, or larger textiles, we like pairing this design with muted ivory, soft oatmeal, or pale leafy greens that echo the meadow foliage. If you want a slightly richer contrast in a dining room or cosy sitting room, a deeper olive green or a muted butterscotch tone drawn from the buttercups creates a warm, coordinated look.
