Wallpaper - April Gray I

Created by Mike Schick, April Gray I brings together soft abstract geometry, painterly texture, and a refined palette of warm grey, off-white, slate, and pale sage-tinted neutral planes. Divided by an off-centre vertical column in crisp white, the composition balances sweeping arcs, semi-circular forms, and a gentle wavy horizon grounded at the base. Fine hairline outlines in rust orange, blush, and muted purple trace along the curved boundaries, lending quiet definition to the broad, brushstroke-textured fields. As with all our wall murals, this design is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper texture, creating a sophisticated backdrop for modern interiors.

In the room

We love how the large-scale abstract forms in this wallpaper create an architectural presence without overpowering the space. The divided composition makes it particularly effective across a wide, uninterrupted living room wall or behind a low bed frame in a master bedroom, where the full curve of the geometric elements can be appreciated. Because the design has a calm, tonal structure anchored by light grey and off-white, it also works beautifully in an open-plan dining area or a dedicated home office, giving the wall artistic depth while keeping the overall room bright and composed.

Styling it

To complement the painterly abstract character of this design, we suggest keeping surrounding furniture clean-lined and understated:

• Choose low-profile furniture in pale woods such as natural ash or white-oiled oak to maintain the light, airy balance of the room.
• Introduce upholstery in textured wool, off-white bouclé, or slate grey linen to echo the tonal layering in the artwork.
• Add small accents in warm terracotta, rust, or brushed bronze to pick up on the delicate hairline outlines tracing the curves.

Colour combinations

The core palette of our wallpaper is built on muted grey tones, chalky white, slate, and soft stone, highlighted by delicate tracing lines of rust, lavender-purple, and apricot. When choosing colours for surrounding walls, woodwork, and large furnishings, soft off-whites with neutral undertones or pale, misty greys keep the transition effortless. For a more grounded contrast, deeper slate grey or charcoal on adjoining doors and skirting boards frames the wall mural with crisp definition. If you prefer subtle warmth, accents drawn from terracotta or muted blush tie directly into the fine outline details.
