Wallpaper - Dreams Of The Savannah

Our Dreams Of The Savannah wallpaper, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, brings a distinctive painted aesthetic to your interior. The design features a large resting lion reclining peacefully across an ornate, patterned red and blue rug, set against a bright sky-blue backdrop. Rich shades of terracotta red, golden amber, warm tawny brown, and cerulean blue give the scene an expressive, artistic character with visible brushstroke styling. Printed made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this wall mural creates an engaging visual focal point on any feature wall.

In the room

Because of the bold scale and narrative presence of the sleeping lion, we see this mural wallpaper working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall where the full composition can be appreciated. In a living room, placing this design behind a low sofa keeps the upper artwork and sky-blue horizon visible while grounding the seating area. It also makes an inspired choice for a study, guest room, or creative studio space where its contemplative mood adds visual warmth and artistic personality. For bedrooms, installing it behind a bedframe with a low headboard allows the resting subject to sit naturally within the room without competing with tall furniture.

Styling it

We recommend balancing the expressive character of the artwork with clean-lined furniture and thoughtful textures:

• Ground the space with mid-toned or dark wood furniture, such as walnut or warm teak, which complements the lion's mane and the deep terracotta tones of the rug.
• Choose low-profile seating and minimal shelving around the wallpaper so the painted details and sweeping composition remain open and uncluttered.
• Layer in solid-toned linen or woven wool textiles in muted terracotta, mustard, or deep navy to echo the patterned base without adding competing patterns.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper brings together a vibrant palette of rich terracotta red, golden ochre, tawny brown, dusty cyan, and bright azure blue. When choosing surrounding wall colours, a warm off-white or soft biscuit cream provides a quiet, balanced backdrop that lets the mural take centre stage. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel in the room, picking out the deep terracotta or a dusky blue for adjacent walls or woodwork ties the entire interior together cohesively.
