Wallpaper - Nantucket Afternoon

Our Nantucket Afternoon wallpaper, designed by Kathy Ferguson, brings together horizontal bands of mixed visual patterns, abstract shapes, and soft layered brushwork. The composition combines soft lilac, lavender, and gentle blues with accents of vibrant magenta, deep navy, and muted teal, punctuated by sketched pencil lines, white stripes, and dot motifs. Each horizontal strip reveals a different visual texture, creating a collaged, painterly character with plenty of graphic rhythm. Produced made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure, our mural wallpapers bring an artistic, modern sensibility to any room.

In the room

We see this wallpaper working especially well in a bright bedroom, an open-plan living room, or a dedicated home office. Because the design is organized in horizontal landscape-like tiers, it looks fantastic across a wide, uninterrupted wall where the full length of the painted strips and pencil-drawn linework can stretch out. In a bedroom behind a low headboard or across a main dining wall, the varied rhythm provides a striking focal point without overwhelming the room. The layered pastel tones catch natural daylight beautifully, while the deeper navy and magenta elements anchor the wall when the light shifts in the evening.

Styling it

Because this design contains a rich mix of visual patterns, we recommend keeping larger furniture pieces relatively quiet and clean-lined. Low-profile contemporary furniture in pale ash, painted off-white, or muted grey lets the horizontal bands of the mural remain the centrepiece.

For soft furnishings and accessories, simple linens and matte ceramics in solid tones work well. Introducing a single accent in deep navy or crisp white will echo the linework in the artwork, while keeping surrounding textures subtle prevents visual clutter.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on soft lilacs, pale violet, sky blue, and white, contrasted by touches of vivid magenta, inky navy, and dusty sea-green.

When painting adjacent walls, woodwork, or ceiling surfaces, we suggest looking to clean chalky whites, pale dove greys, or a very light lavender-tinted neutral. If you prefer deeper contrast in your furnishings or cabinetry, deep midnight blue or charcoal grey creates a sophisticated, grounding frame against the lighter pastel backdrop.
