Wallpaper - Purrfect Likeness

Created by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Purrfect Likeness wallpaper brings an expressive, portrait-style cat motif directly into your interior. The design features a ginger tabby cat peering out from within a rustic wooden picture frame against a deep black background, bordered with muted green edges. Painted-looking brushstrokes, warm amber and ginger fur, soft white whiskers, and inquisitive yellow-green eyes give the artwork a distinctive illustrative character. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure.

In the room

Because of the strong central subject and framed composition, we see this wall mural working best as a dedicated focal point. In a living room, hallway, bedroom, or home study, giving the wallpaper an uninterrupted wall allows the portrait scale and depth of the dark frame background to stand out clearly. The contrast between the warm ginger tones and the dark background gives it an inviting presence without overwhelming the rest of the room.

Styling it

We recommend styling around this mural with relatively calm, warm elements that let the portrait take centre stage:

• Pair the wallpaper with warm timber furniture, such as medium-toned oak or vintage wooden pieces, to naturally echo the painted wooden frame in the design.
• Keep surrounding upholstery and soft furnishings in solid, tactile textures like woven wool or soft linen rather than competing prints.
• Choose warm brass or muted dark bronze decorative accents to complement the rich ochre and amber hues in the cat's coat.

Colour combinations

The palette within our design centres around warm ginger, ochre, terracotta, deep black, and soft wood browns, offset by subtle sage-green borders. For surrounding painted walls, skirting boards, or built-in cabinetry, we like pairing this wallpaper with muted olive or moss greens to draw out the border tone, or earthy neutrals such as warm stone and soft taupe. If you prefer higher contrast, a deep charcoal or near-black on adjacent surfaces can create a striking, gallery-like feel.
