Wallpaper - Sunset at Montmajour

Our Sunset at Montmajour wallpaper brings Vincent Van Gogh’s expressive rural landscape into the home with expressive brushwork and rich movement. The composition pairs golden yellow and olive green scrubland with twisting trees in the foreground, balanced by a swirling sky of soft blues, greens, and gentle greys. The visible oil-painted character gives the scene depth and energy, creating an artistic presence that feels grounded yet vivid. Like all our wall murals, this design is made to measure to fit your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well in a living room, dining room, or bedroom where the landscape has space to unfold. Because the painting contains distinct foreground detail and a broad horizon, it suits an uninterrupted main wall where the full width of the scene can be enjoyed without heavy visual breaks. In a study or home library, the earthy olive greens and warm golden tones create an inviting, contemplative atmosphere that anchors the entire room. In rooms with generous daylight, the layered brushstrokes and subtle colour shifts in the sky become especially clear, while warmer evening lighting deepens the golden tones in the fields.

Styling it

To let the artwork remain the central focal point, we suggest balancing it with calm, grounded furnishings:

• Pair the wallpaper with warm wood furniture or simple painted pieces in muted off-white or charcoal to echo the painted outlines without overwhelming the room.
• Introduce soft, natural textiles in unbleached cotton or wool to complement the earthy palette while keeping the surrounding decor quiet.
• Keep wall decor on adjacent surfaces minimal so the expressive landscape mural wallpapers can carry the visual identity of the space.

Colour combinations

The design is built around earthy olive greens, golden yellows, soft horizon blues, and muted sky greys. When choosing colours for adjacent walls, woodwork, or built-in cabinetry, we like pairing this wallpaper with soft bone white, gentle clay, or deep olive green to draw out the foliage in the foreground. If you prefer a cooler contrast, a pale grey-blue pulled from the swirling sky balances the warmth of the fields naturally.
