Wallpaper - Song of Spring I

Our Song of Spring I wallpaper, created with artist Julia Purinton, presents a delicate botanical scene with a painted-looking character. Two songbirds with slate-blue wings, bright yellow chests, and distinctive black and yellow markings perch among blossoming branches. Creamy white and blush blossoms with amber centres gather along slender brown boughs, framed by soft green foliage against a warm, light beige background. Printed made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure, this design brings a serene, nature-inspired focal point to any interior.

In the room

We love seeing this design given room to breathe on a main wall where its vertical branch structure and painterly details can be fully appreciated. In a bedroom, placing this wall mural behind a headboard creates an inviting, restful backdrop without overwhelming the space. It also works beautifully in a dining room, living room, or a quiet hallway where you catch glimpses of the birds and blossom as you pass through. Because the background is soft and airy, the mural wallpapers work just as comfortably in a compact study or guest bedroom as they do across a wider, open wall area.

Styling it

The botanical subject and hand-painted look pair naturally with classic, country, or relaxed contemporary decor. To keep the visual focus on the artwork, we would balance the detailed branch motif with simpler surrounding elements.

• Pair the wallpaper with warm wood furniture or painted cabinetry in creamy off-white or soft muted sage to harmonise with the foliage.
• Introduce natural linen or woven cotton textiles for curtains and upholstery, echoing the gentle, organic feeling of the motif.
• Keep wall decor on adjacent walls minimal, allowing the delicate composition of the mural to remain the clear focal point of the room.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on soft pale beige and cream, lifted by the slate blue and vibrant golden yellow of the birds, deep olive greens in the leaves, and pale blush pinks in the flower petals. When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls and trim, warm neutrals such as ivory, linen, or pale stone echo the mural's background seamlessly. If you want to introduce a subtle accent colour elsewhere in the room, muted olive green or a gentle grey-blue drawn directly from the bird's plumage creates a cohesive, considered look.
