Wallpaper - Earthy Abstract II

Our Earthy Abstract II wallpaper, created in collaboration with artist Danhui Nai, brings fluid washes of earthy umber, warm ochre, soft taupe, and subtle hints of mineral teal across the wall. The composition captures the organic movement of watercolor pigments blending and bleeding into one another, creating a wide, atmospheric horizon of layered tones. Stronger, darker earth shades anchor the centre, while softer, mist-like washes diffuse outward toward the top and bottom. Printed to your exact dimensions, this made-to-measure, PVC-free design features a subtle paper structure that adds depth to the painted visual texture.

In the room

Because of the horizontal flow and atmospheric scale of the artwork, we see this mural working especially well on a primary wall in a living room, bedroom, or dining area. In a larger living space, giving the wallpaper an uninterrupted wall behind a sofa allows the full visual gradient and subtle tonal bleeding to unfold across the room. In a bedroom, placing it behind the headboard creates a grounded, enveloping backdrop. The nuanced shifts between warm taupe, charcoal earth, and gentle mineral blues respond beautifully to natural daylight, while softer evening lamplight enhances the richer, deeper tones through the middle of the motif.

Styling it

We recommend letting the expressive painterly character of the wallpaper take visual priority in the room. Pairing the wall with clean-lined furniture in warm woods such as walnut or darkened oak echoes the deeper tones of the artwork without competing with its movement. For upholstery and larger textiles, simple, unpatterned fabrics in warm linen, muted sand, or deep charcoal help keep the space feeling calm and cohesive. To introduce subtle contrast, accents in aged bronze or brushed brass complement the warmth of the ochre and brown washes.

Colour combinations

The palette within our design centres on deep umber, burnt sienna, warm taupe, soft stone grey, and quiet touches of muted teal. For adjacent painted walls, we suggest soft off-whites with a warm grey or beige undertone to keep the transition gentle and seamless. If you prefer a richer, more cocooning atmosphere, pulling a deep taupe or charcoal brown from the core of the motif onto neighbouring surfaces or joinery creates a sophisticated, tonal space.
