Wallpaper - First Peony

Our First Peony wallpaper mural by Krystal Adams brings a single, expressive floral motif into generous focus. Featuring an open peony bloom in rich shades of raspberry, crimson, and deep rose sitting within a clear glass jar, the design has an expressive, painted-looking character with visible brushstrokes and soft pink background tones. The centered still life composition gives the flower an artistic presence that works particularly well as a focal point in a bedroom, living room, or entryway. Like all our wallpapers, this mural is made-to-measure and PVC-free with a subtle physical structure in the paper.

In the room

Because of its painterly still life composition, we see this wall mural working especially well on an accent wall where the motif can stand unhindered. In a bedroom, placing it behind a headboard or on the main wall opposite the bed gives the room an immediate artistic anchor. In a dining area or living room, giving the design a relatively uninterrupted wall allows the full scale of the flower and glass jar to be appreciated from across the space.

The soft pink backdrop keeps the overall contrast gentle despite the deep reds and plums in the bloom, making it comfortable to live with across various room sizes. In spaces with good natural daylight, the brushwork details and layered pink undertones become particularly noticeable, while warmer evening lighting brings out the deeper crimson and burgundy notes in the petals.

Styling it

When styling around this floral wall mural, we like balancing the expressive brushwork with simpler, quieter furniture shapes so the wall remains the primary visual interest.

• Warm wood furniture, such as medium-toned oak, pairs naturally with the earthy green stem and grounded tones of the painted jar base.
• Upholstered pieces or curtains in plain neutral linens, soft cream, or muted blush allow the vibrant raspberry and crimson shades in the petals to stand out without visual competition.
• Ceramic or clear glassware decorative accents Echo the painted glass jar motif on nearby shelving, mantels, or side tables.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on a palette of soft rose pink, raspberry red, deep wine, crimson, crisp white highlights, and a touch of leafy green. When choosing colours for surrounding walls, woodwork, or larger furnishings, we recommend pulling from these tones or working with quiet companions.

Soft chalky whites, warm off-whites, or delicate blush pinks on adjacent walls create a seamless transition that complements the mural's background. For a deeper, more enveloping feel, pulling out the rich wine or plum shades for woodwork, architraves, or an accent chair creates a striking tonal dialogue with the bloom.
