Wallpaper - Alone on the Beach

Captured by Nathan Larson, our Alone on the Beach wallpaper brings an open coastal landscape into the home with an airy, photographic composition. The design balances delicate dried dune grasses in the foreground against a tranquil sea and an expansive, cloud-filled sky rendered in gentle pastel tones and sandy beige. Printed as made-to-measure wall murals on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this piece offers a quiet, expansive focal point that introduces a sense of light and stillness across any interior wall.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well on a wide, uninterrupted wall in a bedroom or living room, where the horizontal composition of the shoreline can stretch naturally across the room. Because the lower third of the scene carries fine grass detail while the upper portion opens into a soft sky, placing a low-profile sofa or a simple bed frame against the wall will not obscure the main atmosphere of the landscape. In a holiday home or a coastal-inspired living space, the muted contrast and open perspective create a restful backdrop that feels natural in spaces receiving plenty of diffused daylight.

Styling it

To complement the calm, Scandinavian character of the photographic landscape, we recommend keeping surrounding furniture simple and grounded. Low-slung seating and light timber furniture in ash or blonde oak pair effortlessly with the sun-bleached tones in the foreground grasses. Choosing unpatterned upholstery and soft, textured textiles in off-white or natural linen helps maintain the breezy, uncluttered aesthetic of the room, allowing the wallpaper to remain the primary visual focus without competing patterns.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper is defined by a palette of warm sandy beige, pale straw tones, and soft, muted sky greys and sea blues. When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls and woodwork, warm off-whites, chalky creams, or pale oat tones provide a seamless transition that extends the warmth of the sand. For furniture or soft furnishings, introducing deeper accents of washed navy, slate blue, or muted charcoal creates a subtle contrast that echoes the horizon line without overpowering the delicate pastel qualities of the scenery.
