Wallpaper - Darling Clementine

Our Darling Clementine wallpaper by Julia Purinton brings the painterly warmth of a classic still life into an intimate wall mural format. The composition centres on three vibrant clementines resting on a rustic surface, framed by deep green leaves and slender stems against a moody, textured background of charcoal, shadowy umber, and muted earth tones. Rich oranges and golden highlights glow against the dark canvas, giving the artwork a timeless, atmospheric depth. Made to measure and completely PVC-free, our wallpaper paper has a subtle structure that complements the painterly brushstrokes.

In the room

We love how this still-life design grounds a room with quiet, rich character. In a dining room or an open kitchen area, it creates a warm, atmospheric focal point behind a dining table or sideboard, where the luminous fruit tones catch the eye. The dark backdrop makes our wall murals particularly effective on an accent wall in a cosy breakfast nook, hallway, or study, wrapping the space in depth without overpowering surrounding surfaces.

Because the motif is concentrated as a visual study in the lower foreground, it works exceptionally well on walls where the lower half remains unobstructed by tall furniture. In spaces with soft evening light or low-hanging pendant lighting, the warm citrus tones take on an inviting, gentle glow.

Styling it

To let the painterly depth of our mural wallpapers lead the room, we suggest pairing Darling Clementine with understated, warm interior elements:

• Pair with warm, dark or medium-toned wood, such as walnut, aged oak, or dark-stained pine, which naturally echoes the earthy backdrop and rustic tabletop of the painting.
• Bring in textured textiles like unbleached linen napkins, rustic wool throws, or soft taupe cushions to complement the handcrafted, canvas-like look of the brushwork.
• Introduce subtle antique brass or matte black accents in hardware, lighting, or picture frames to pick up on the deep shadows and golden highlights within the fruit.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on rich tangerine orange, warm ochre, and deep olive greens set against shadowy charcoal and umber. When choosing surrounding wall colours and decor, we recommend taking cues from these tonal contrasts:

For adjacent walls, deep charcoal or muted olive greens create an enveloping, moody backdrop that allows the mural to blend naturally into the architecture. If you prefer a lighter look, creamy off-whites, warm stone, or soft greige provide a calm, clean counterpoint while letting the vibrant clementines take centre stage. Rich terracotta and burnt sienna accents in ceramics or textiles will harmoniously pull out the glowing undertones of the citrus.
