Wallpaper - Muted

Our Muted wallpaper, designed by Danhui Nai, captures an expansive landscape of rolling hills, calm water, and rocky shorelines in a quiet, painterly style. What we particularly like about this design is the broad, expressive brushwork that balances sweeping distant mountains with soft reflections and delicate tree silhouettes in the foreground. Rendered in a restrained palette of taupe, warm stone, pale sand, and soft slate grey, the composition brings a tranquil atmosphere to a room without overwhelming surrounding furnishings. Our wallpapers are made-to-measure to fit your exact wall dimensions and are completely PVC-free.

In the room

Because this mural wallpaper functions as a scenic vista, we see it working especially well on a wide, uninterrupted wall where the full horizon and mountain layers can unfold. In a living room, placing it behind a low-backed sofa keeps the water and distant shoreline open to view. It also sits beautifully in a bedroom behind a headboard, where the gentle landscape provides a restful visual backdrop across the entire space. In a dining room or home office, the subtle tonal shifts in the sky and hills create depth without demanding intense visual contrast, making the room feel grounded and spacious.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this landscape mural with natural materials and considered, quiet silhouettes. Furniture in warm woods like ash, oak, or walnut echoes the earthy undertones of the foreground rocks, while brushed bronze or blackened iron fixtures introduce a subtle, defining structure. To complement the painterly aesthetic, keep larger textiles simple and unpatterned, allowing the wallpaper to remain the primary scenic feature in the room.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on warm taupe, soft beige, pale slate, and earthy brown tones. To create a cohesive scheme around our wallpaper, consider using warm neutrals, pale putty, or soft biscuit on adjacent walls and painted woodwork. If you want to draw out the subtle cool tones in the water and distant peaks, pairing the mural with muted blue-grey or slate upholstery on accent chairs or rugs creates an appealing, balanced contrast.
