Wallpaper - Quails

Our Quails wallpaper brings a classic sporting scene to life, depicting an alert white and brown dog in an autumnal woodland clearing while a second dog waits quietly in the deeper brush. Created by Joseph Hoover, the composition balances bare trees and dry grasses against a softly overcast sky, using rich sienna, deep green, and muted earthy tones to build depth across the wall. As one of our mural wallpapers, it introduces a timeless rural feel with a painted character that suits traditional interiors. Like all Wallism wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well in a study, home library, dining room, or a welcoming hallway. Because the landscape composition features a clear ground level and atmospheric depth in the upper half, it benefits from an uninterrupted accent wall where the full scenic balance remains visible. In a living room, placing it behind a sofa or low sideboard allows the dogs and woodland detail to anchor the space naturally. The grounded, earthy tones also make it well suited to a bedroom or guest room where you want to create a calm, characterful atmosphere without overpowering the space with high contrast.

Styling it

To complement the historic, English country character of the mural, we suggest pairing it with traditional and rustic furnishings. Darker wood furniture, such as walnut or antique oak, sits naturally against the warm sienna and forest floor tones. Tailored upholstery in wool, corduroy, or deep green velvet echoes the sporting heritage of the artwork. Keep lighting warm and layered with shaded table lamps or muted brass wall sconces to enhance the rich, painterly shadows in the evening.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper is built around a grounded palette of burnt sienna, earthy brown, deep moss green, and soft grey sky tones. For adjacent painted walls and woodwork, muted olive greens, warm stone, or rich taupe work exceptionally well. If you prefer a lighter contrast, a soft parchment or muted warm grey on the surrounding trim will frame the woodland scenery cleanly.
