Wallpaper - Leatherbound II

Created by Haley Knighten, our Leatherbound II wallpaper brings together broad, expressive colour fields with a grounded, abstract composition. The motif balances deep ochre and warm tan tones across the upper portion with a muted stone grey base, anchored by bold, painterly blocks of charcoal black, deep espresso, and off-white. What we particularly like is the visible brushwork along the edges, giving the large geometric shapes a painterly character that feels organic and considered. Our mural wallpapers are made-to-measure and PVC-free, printed on paper with a subtle physical structure that complements the painterly aesthetic.

In the room

Because the composition relies on large colour blocks and sweeping horizontal transitions, we see this wall mural working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall in a living room, dining area, or bedroom. Giving the design a wider wall lets the interplay between the warm ochre upper section and the cooler neutral base unfold naturally. In a living room, positioning the wallpaper behind a low-profile sofa allows the bold central shapes to remain visible and anchor the space. For a dining room or home office, the architectural division of tone creates a calm, focused backdrop that frames the room without overwhelming it.

Styling it

With a large-scale abstract design like this, we prefer surrounding the wall with furniture that shares its sense of form and proportion. Clean, contemporary silhouettes work well to echo the graphic structure of the artwork. We would combine low-slung seating in tactile neutral upholstery with dark-stained wood or matte black metal accents to draw out the charcoal and espresso elements in the motif. Keeping surrounding accessories deliberate and uncluttered lets the expressive brushstrokes and tonal balance remain the focal point of the interior.

Colour combinations

The artwork features a palette of warm ochre, soft stone grey, charcoal black, rich dark brown, and chalky off-white. When choosing colours for adjacent walls, trim, or larger furniture, we suggest looking to the softer tones within the design. A warm, chalky off-white or light pebble grey on neighbouring walls maintains an open feel while letting the ochre tones stand out. If you want a moodier, more enveloping scheme, pulling out the deep espresso or charcoal for woodwork, shelving, or accent pieces creates a rich, cohesive look.
