Wallpaper - Shape Shifter, Misty Indigo

Our Shape Shifter, Misty Indigo wallpaper brings together organic abstract shapes, gestural brush marks, and layered translucent forms across a rich indigo palette. Designed by Irina Chikati, the composition balances deep navy and midnight blue blocks with softer slate and misty blue tones, giving the abstract pattern visual depth and movement. Printed made to measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure, our wallpapers are straightforward to hang and sized to match your exact wall dimensions.

In the room

We see this design working especially well across a feature wall in a bedroom, living room, or dining room where you want deep colour without overwhelming contrast. On an uninterrupted wall behind a bed or low sofa, the larger curved forms and layered brushwork have plenty of room to unfold across the full height of the space. In a dedicated home office or study, the darker indigo and navy shades create an immersive, considered environment that feels composed and grounding. With generous natural light, the subtle differences between the misty blue highlights and deeper inky backgrounds become particularly clear throughout the day.

Styling it

To balance the cool, saturated blue field, we would pair this wallpaper with warm timber furniture in oiled walnut, teak, or mid-toned oak. The natural grain and warm undertones of the wood provide an organic contrast to the cool-toned collage. We suggest keeping larger upholstered furniture simple in textured neutrals like oatmeal, slate grey, or unbleached canvas, allowing the mural wallpapers to anchor the visual interest. Clean architectural accents, such as matte black lighting or subtle bronze details, complement the contemporary character without competing with the composition.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper is built around a palette of deep navy, rich indigo, slate blue, denim, and pale misty blue.

On adjacent walls and woodwork, soft off-whites with neutral undertones or pale stony greys provide a crisp, balanced contrast that keeps the room bright. For a more enveloping, monochromatic look, matching adjoining walls or skirting boards in deep navy creates a continuous, unified feel. To introduce warmer contrast through decorative pieces, rich cognac, warm ochre, and muted terracotta tones pair naturally with the cool blue backdrop.
