Wallpaper - Shape Shifter, Chalky Stone

Our Shape Shifter, Chalky Stone wallpaper brings together layered abstract forms and loose, chalk-like marks in a cool palette of slate blue, powder blue, soft stone, and chalky white. Designed by Irina Chikati, the composition balances broad, organic shapes with painterly brushstrokes that create a calm visual rhythm across the wall. Printed made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, this design brings a clean, contemporary character to residential spaces.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well in a living room, dining room, or bedroom where the soft, balanced composition can establish a focal point without overwhelming the interior. On a wider uninterrupted wall, such as behind a sofa or dining table, the larger curved forms and free-form brush marks have ample space to unfold naturally.

The subdued tonal contrast also makes it an excellent choice for a home office, hallway, or entryway. In rooms with plenty of daylight, the nuanced differences between the powder blue, pale grey, and slate layers become especially crisp. In spaces lit primarily in the evening with warmer lamps, the cooler blue and stone tones soften into a quiet, atmospheric background.

Styling it

To complement the mineral tones and organic shapes of the design, we would look toward furniture in light, desaturated wood finishes such as pale birch or brushed grey oak. These gentle timbers connect naturally with the stone-inspired palette while keeping the room feeling light and balanced.

For surrounding accents, matte surfaces and simple geometric silhouettes work best alongside the painterly character of the print. Low-sheen ceramics, soft off-white upholstery, and quiet brushed steel or charcoal hardware help anchor the layout without competing with the movement on the wall.

Colour combinations

The design features a palette of slate blue, powder blue, soft stone grey, and chalky white.

When planning adjacent painted walls or woodwork, a soft off-white or pale cool grey creates an airy, cohesive transition that highlights the lighter brush marks. For a more grounded feel, choosing a muted charcoal slate or deep denim blue on surrounding trim or cabinetry draws out the darker layers of the artwork and adds definition to the space.
