Wallpaper - Sinuous Ceres, Midnight Ebony

Designed by Marta Cortese, our Sinuous Ceres, Midnight Ebony wallpaper pairs dense, upright grass blades with delicate seedheads rising against a deep black backdrop. What we particularly like about this design is the contrast between the heavier ribbon-like foliage anchored at the bottom and the airy, branching grains that drift upward into the dark ground. Tonal layers of warm wheat, dried grass, and soft ochre give the botanical elements a natural sense of depth. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because the composition carries most of its visual weight across the lower section, we see this working exceptionally well as a feature wall behind a low bed frame, a dining bench, or a clean-lined sofa. The vertical flow draws the eye upward, giving taller walls a graceful sense of proportion without crowding the upper half of the room. In a bedroom or dining space, giving the wallpaper a wide, relatively uninterrupted wall allows the rhythmic sway of the grasses to stretch out naturally across the full width of the room.

Styling it

To balance the graphic clarity of the black background and golden tones, we suggest keeping surrounding furniture relatively calm and low in profile.

• Ground the room with warm wood tones or matte black furniture that echoes the dark backdrop without competing with the detailed linework.
• Choose understated woven upholstery or plain natural textiles in neutral shades to let the botanical mural carry the main pattern in the space.
• Position ambient, warm light sources nearby to highlight the fine details of the seedheads and soften the contrast across the wall.

Colour combinations

The design centres on a rich palette of deep ebony black paired with warm biscuit, dried straw, and muted ochre tones. For surrounding painted walls and woodwork, we recommend soft charcoal or deep off-black if you want an enveloping, continuous look. If you prefer more contrast, pairing the wallpaper with muted stone, warm taupe, or soft linen white on adjoining walls helps frame the mural while keeping the room bright and balanced.
