Wallpaper - Sinuous Ceres, Burgundy Dusk

Our Sinuous Ceres, Burgundy Dusk wallpaper pairs rhythmic, flowing grasses with delicate seed heads set against a deep burgundy backdrop. Designed by Marta Cortese, the composition builds upward from dense, curving reeds at the base into finer, airy botanical silhouettes above, leaving open negative space across the upper wall. The warm beige, biscuit, and soft muted grey-green tones create a gentle contrast with the rich dark red ground. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure, and is designed to be straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because the visual density rises from the lower half of the design, we find this wallpaper works exceptionally well in dining rooms, living rooms, and bedrooms. In a bedroom, placing it behind a headboard lets the broader grass blades ground the bed while the fine seedheads drift upward towards the ceiling. In a hallway or dining area, the vertical movement draws the eye upwards, giving the space an enveloping, atmospheric mood. It performs well across a single wide feature wall or wrapped around an entire room where the dark ground can create a cocooning feel.

Styling it

We suggest balancing the rich, grounded backdrop with mid-tone to dark wood furniture, such as walnut or warm teak, which complements the deep burgundy tones naturally. Upholstery in warm oatmeal, biscuit, or textured woven fabrics picks up the natural shades of the grass motifs without competing for attention. To keep the focus on the botanical illustration, keep surrounding decorative accents relatively quiet and sculptural, choosing matte ceramics or muted brass accents that echo the warm wheat tones.

Colour combinations

The design centres on a deep burgundy wine backdrop layered with wheat beige, biscuit, warm straw, and subtle muted grey-green foliage. When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls, woodwork, or cornicing, warm off-whites, soft biscuit, or deep plummy browns work in natural harmony. If you want a richer, tonal look, pairing the wallpaper with paint colours drawn directly from the deep burgundy ground creates a seamless, immersive atmosphere.
