Wallpaper - Molten Muse, Desert

Created by Irina Chikati, our Molten Muse, Desert wallpaper brings together floating geometric cut-outs and fluid, rippling desert tones over a soft slate-blue background. Crisp circular forms, upright pillars, and horizontal blocks layer across liquid-like gradients of sand, taupe, and cool stone grey. The large-scale abstract composition gives walls a balanced architectural presence, pairing defined modernist shapes with soft, organic distortion. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure for your specific wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure that is straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of the architectural scale of the motif, we see this working particularly well in an open living room, dining room, or a contemporary bedroom where the full composition has room to breathe. On a wide, relatively uninterrupted wall, such as behind a low sofa or a dining table, the interplay between the circular and rectangular forms creates a distinctive focal point without overwhelming the surrounding space. In a home office, the balanced geometry adds considered visual depth behind a desk, while in a hallway or staircase, passing the wall allows you to appreciate the fluid transitions across the layered planes. Under soft daylight, the slate-blue backdrop stays crisp and airy, whereas warmer evening light brings out the deeper taupe and sandy tones within the design.

Styling it

To complement the contemporary aesthetic of our wall murals, we would pair this design with furniture that features clean, architectural profiles. Low-profile seating in off-white, light grey, or muted taupe upholstery lets the abstract shapes remain central to the room. For surrounding materials, smooth surfaces such as brushed steel or matte ceramics echo the clean geometry, while light ash or pale oak pieces introduce natural warmth without competing with the bold forms. Keeping decorative objects minimal and sculptural ensures the wall retains its graphic clarity.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on cool slate blue, desert sand, muted taupe, warm stone grey, and pale ivory. When selecting colours for surrounding surfaces, we recommend pairing this design with off-white, soft greige, or a light pebble tone on adjacent walls and woodwork. If you prefer a sharper, more tailored look, painting architectural trim or cabinetry in a deep slate grey draws out the cooler background gradients and frames the wall cleanly.
