Wallpaper - Grain Clad, Graphite

Our Grain Clad, Graphite wallpaper brings the visual character of vertical dark timber panelling to the wall through realistic grain patterns, knots, and tonal charcoal shading. We designed the composition with broad vertical boards that give walls an architectural rhythm, balanced by subtle transitions between deep slate, charcoal, and soft graphite tones. The monochrome palette provides a moody, structured look without overwhelming a space. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure according to your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We find that Grain Clad, Graphite works particularly well when used to anchor a specific zone within a home. In a living room, placing this design behind a sofa or along an unbroken media wall creates a grounded focal point with plenty of depth. The vertical orientation of the timber grain draws the eye upward, which suits rooms with standard or lower ceilings. In a bedroom, we like using it across the wall behind the headboard to set a calm, enveloping mood for the entire room. Because the tonal contrast across the boards is relatively gentle, it can also wrap across multiple walls in a home office or dining room without feeling chaotic.

Styling it

To balance the deep grey tones of the timber pattern, we suggest pairing this design with furniture that brings warmth or crisp contrast into the space.

• Lighter upholstered seating, such as soft grey or cream armchairs and sofas, creates a clean visual break against the dark backdrop.
• Warm accents in brushed brass, matte black metal, or smoked glass echo the architectural lines of the panelling while adding subtle highlights.
• Richer textiles like boucle, chunky knits, or woven wool bring inviting physical texture that complements the visual depth of the printed grain.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built from a spectrum of deep graphite, charcoal grey, and smoky off-black tones with fine mid-grey grain details. When selecting paint colours for adjoining walls, woodwork, or skirting boards, we recommend pairing it with muted off-whites, chalky stone greys, or rich charcoal paint for a cohesive, monochromatic scheme. If you want to introduce colour elsewhere in the room, muted earthy tones like olive green, burnt ochre, or warm rust sit naturally against the dark graphite background.
