Wallpaper - Crocker Parchment, Earth Umber

Our Crocker Parchment, Earth Umber wallpaper brings together the visual character of aged parchment panels with a deep, smoky palette. What we particularly like about this design is the subtle grid structure, where delicate seams define square sections across a mottled, cloudy surface of rich umber, charcoal, and warm earth tones. The low contrast across the repeating panels gives the wall an atmospheric, grounded presence without feeling busy. Like all our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well in spaces where you want an intimate, enveloping atmosphere. In a living room or a dedicated dining space, the dark umber panels create a warm, substantial backdrop that anchors the entire room. Because the grid structure provides a rhythmic visual cadence while keeping the overall tonal contrast low, this is one of our mural wallpapers that sits comfortably across an entire room as well as on a focused feature wall behind a sofa or dining table.

In a bedroom or a quiet study, we would use this wallpaper across the main wall behind the bed or desk. The cloudy depth in the earthy brown and charcoal tones responds beautifully to shifting lighting throughout the day, appearing soft and velvety in gentle daylight and turning deeper and richer under warm lamps in the evening.

Styling it

When styling around our Crocker Parchment wallpaper, we like to play with contrasting materials that balance the dark, textured surface of the wall. Natural woodwork in warm walnut or aged oak harmonises effortlessly with the earthy umber undertones, reinforcing the vintage character of the panelled motif.

To prevent a dark room from feeling heavy, we would introduce softer upholstery in natural bouclé, linen, or brushed cotton in oatmeal or stone grey. Adding accents in brushed brass or blackened metal creates a considered, modern dialogue with the geometric panel lines, while low-level lighting highlights the visual depth across the paper.

Colour combinations

The design itself features a palette of deep earth umber, muted charcoal, dark espresso, and warm taupe undertones. When choosing colours for surrounding walls, woodwork, and ceilings, we recommend working with complementary neutral tones rather than stark, cold shades.

A warm off-white, soft putty, or pale taupe on adjoining walls and ceiling coving creates a gentle, sophisticated contrast that frames the wallpaper without jarring. If you prefer a richer, more cohesive look, deep olive green, warm cocoa, or muted ochre work exceptionally well on painted trim, curtains, or large upholstered furniture.
